She is unique in her field and uses many therapy modalities, getting results where others have failed. She tailors her skills and expertise to your specific needs. Her methods go beyond physical therapy and are an essential part to the overall wellbeing. My highest regards to Karen and the wonderful work she is doing.
After my second cataract surgery I developed Fourth Cranial Nerve Palsy, double vision, primarily when reading on the computer screen. The doctor didn’t have any solutions to offer. My wife, a patient at Beyond Physical Therapy, mentioned my problem during one of her sessions. Karen said she might be able to help and I made an appointment. The morning after my first visit I discovered my double vision was nearly resolved, presenting only under certain… lighting conditions. After three more sessions that has gone as well. I really can’t find the words to describe how happy I am with this outcome. Read more “”
Being diagnosed with POTS at the age of 14, I didn’t know what type of treatment I needed in order to feel okay again. Eventually being told craniosacral therapy would help, I started getting treatments with Karen and I was able to make an amazing transformation. I was able to go from feeling so bad I could barely leave the house to being able to have a normal life again, even being able to go… to college across the country. She puts everything into her work and I couldn’t have done it without her. I won’t go to anybody else in Connecticut for craniosacral therapy. Read more “”
Over the past couple of years I have been seeing Karen DeVille PT for various reasons – sciatic pain , shoulder pain, back pain and vertigo – I must say that every time I leave her office I feel better and better. At first I was a bit hesitant with Karen’s methods; at my first visit I was ok I don’t think this will work out BUT by the time I finished the first appointment… and felt much better I was sold on her method. Karen, is my go – to therapist for whatever ails me. My last bout with vertigo it was a process but I believe Karen shortened the time of recovery with her therapy. Karen, is a great listener – extremely knowledgeable in her field and is caring. I must also mention the Office Staff are very, very nice. Read more “”
I have worked with Karen DeVille RPT for over ten years sharing mutual patients having neurological events such as CVA and TBI. Ms. DeVille has always conducted herself professionally and with the highest intentions regarding rehabilitation. I recommend Ms. DeVille without exception for persons seeking rehabilitation for neurological challenges.
I had double mastectomy surgery with reconstruction for breast cancer in July 2016 with continued implant procedures through the Fall of 2016.
Two months after the initial surgery although I had been faithfully doing the prescribed exercises, I had ongoing issues with pain, immobility and numbness that I believed were permanent. With skepticism and resignation I began treatment with Karen. In 3 sessions I saw dramatic improvement in all areas and much to my… relief even the stubborn numbness was resolved. The “no pain-no gain” mantra I have often heard in my work amongst other therapists was never an adopted part of Karen’s treatment plan. Although the work was on sensitive tissue, to my surprise and delight the therapy was soothing and I did not experience any worsening of symptoms during or after the sessions. I have been singing Karen’s praises to others including my surgeon who at a follow up appointment was so impressed with my recovery that she asked for the name of my therapist. Don’t settle for run of the mill. If you have heard any hype about “massage” therapy in Bristol, check twice, it may be a buzz about Karen DeVille and her unique paradigm and treatment approach. She has opened my eyes to what it truly means to be a skilled physical therapist and I am so happy to share my experience and promote the work she does. Read more “”
She gave me the best experience in my life and I am glad to have met her. I think she knows what she has done for me and I will always remember when I released all that tension and being able to walk erect again. The gods have blessed her and she passes her gift to all that she touches. Praise the healers!
I first went to see Karen when I developed TMJ, as well as migraines, and at the time was recovering from a sinus infection. Karen’s amazing skills and touch made me feel better after each session. Her office environment is relaxing and friendly and I always felt like a “new person” when I left. As each session went on, my pain in my face/sinuses decreased and so did my anxiety. I thank Karen for making… me feel like myself again and helping me get through all of my aliments this past year. She is wonderful and I would highly recommend her. Read more “”
As a 50 something with lifelong, chronic back problems, I consider myself lucky to call Karen DeVille my physical therapist. For the last (3?) years, she has provided numerous types of therapy including Myofacial Release Therapy. Truth be told, when I first heard of it, I thought, that can’t be helpful? But it is! Karen gets to the heart of the problem in a way that will amaze and provide the relief you didn’t think possible.… When it comes to those annoying insurance issues, Karen goes the extra mile to do all she can to encourage continued treatments for her patients. Karen’s cutting edge, holistic therapy and pleasant mannerisms are just some of many reasons I continue to seek her special care. Read more “”
I worked with Karen for over a year on issues relating to my chronic pain after a double mastectomy for breast cancer surgery two years prior. Karen created a safe space and worked very gently on my much stressed system. She has the hands of an angel… I was very grateful for the work we did together. After working with Karen I was ready to start moving my body more again. She had reduced a… lot of my fear around the chronic pain. I would recommend her highly to breast cancer patients during and after treatment. Read more “”
I have had the privilege of working with Karen Deville as I was recovering from a broken arm/shoulder. Karen is professional and truly gifted. I had worked with several other physical therapists prior to working with Karen. There is no comparison. Karen has assessment and treatment skills that exceed anyone else that I have worked with. Her unconventional treatment is superior to the multiple traditional physical therapists that I have worked with. Karen was 35… miles from my location. It was a time commitment to work with her. However, the relief that I got from pain after my first treatment with Karen made the extra commute time well worth it. After working with Karen I will never go back to another physical therapist. She is truly amazing! Read more “”
Over the years and many surgeries and fractures, I have experienced a good deal of Physical therapy. At one point I was asked to find a therapist who did deep pressure work but was unable to find one. Most of the therapists dealt with a specific need …use my leg or hand again. Karen however works with the body as a whole, realigning, moving energy as well as working with specific pain or difficulty. She… is definitely one of a kind and I am fortunate to have been referred to her by my primary care physician. Read more “”
A friend referred me to Karen due to chronic shoulder pain. Through her thorough evaluation, I learned that the shoulder pain was a symptom of other issues, including a breathing problem. With a variety of treatment options, Karen was able to help me. Once the breathing was dealt with, the rest seemed to fall in place. A neck injury kept me going back and again, Karen used a variety of options based on what she saw… and how I was feeling that day to get me back on my feet. What I really appreciate is her ability to treat the whole person, not just a body part. Her care and compassion is evident right from the first appointment. She is teaching me what I need to do and what I need to watch for so I don’t slide back. I would highly recommend Karen as a physical therapist for specific problems or just to maintain alignment. Several months after cervical spinal surgery I had yet to regain the range of motion I wanted, so I asked my primary care physician “What’s next?” I’d tried traditional Physical therapy, so I was skeptical when she handed me a flyer… and questioned her with “more of the same”? She said she’d heard good things about Karen DeVille, and urged me to contact her. I kept the flyer, and would glance at it occasionally, then… put it back in the stack. Finally I made the call in Oct. 2015. On my first visit I was impressed with Karen’s extensive physical evaluation, but was very skeptical on the second visit, which was ‘hands-on’. In my initial visit Karen had recommended I try six sessions, then decide if this was for me. I felt that was reasonable. As of June 2016 I see Karen 1 or 2 times a week, and I also work out with my personal trainer weekly–, a schedule I plan to continue…what more can I say!!!!! P.S. My two daughters are physicians, one in family medicine and palliative care, and the other in surgical oncology. Both enthusiastically support this schedule. Read more “”
A few years ago, my husband and I read “Your Inner Physician and You” by John E. Upledger. This is a powerful book about Cranio Sacral Therapy and Somato Emotional Release. After reading this book, we were eager to find an experienced practitioner and experience the benefits of cranio sacral therapy first hand. Within days, we
found Karen. After our first sessions, we both knew that she was a gifted and very talented practitioner. My husband Jacob, who’s spine… curves a bit, began to stand taller, and became much more flexible and I experienced almost immediate emotional balance as well as other physical healing. Karen is a very skilled practitioner with an amazing intuitive ability. Her sessions work both on the physical and non-physical self. After one session with Karen, you will be transformed on some level. I would highly recommend Karen to any individual who is struggling with a physical, mental, or emotional imbalance. Read more “”
I have been seeing Karen DeVille PT for awhile now due to 2 torn rotator cuffs- It has been a long painful recovery journey BUT thanks to Karen and her methods I am on the mend and was finally able to go swimming this season! My ortho was very impressed with my recovery times and range of motion and no surgery needed. Karen is very professional, caring and very knowledgeable. Office staff is EXTREMELY helpful… and accommodating to my work schedule. I would definitely recommend Physical Therapy and Massage and especially Karen for help in all your therapy needs. I’ve been treating with Karen for several years and I can’t ask for a better therapist. Karen’s ability is amazingly keen and sharp. I have referred several family members and friends and they all say the same thing, “she is awesome”. If you’re looking for relief you’re coming to the right person!
Prior to seeing Karen DeVille , I had an ongoing incontinence problem that was being treated by 2 different urologists. I was first given two different medications that were increased a few times but did not help. I then saw a different gyno-urologist who tried a bulking agent and botox treatments for stress and frequency incontinence. These things helped a bit but not sufficiently so that eventually I had surgery to have a vaginal sling put in.… Although the surgery helped some of the frequency and stress, it did not take care of the overactive bladder issues and I still had random leakage throughout the day and of such volume that I often needed to change my clothes. After a few sessions with Karen, I experienced significant improvement going from 10-12 issues a day to eventually none. I feel like a new person and can’t thank Karen enough for her professionalism and skills to give me back my life! Read more “”
Dedication to patient comfort, wellness, and trust. That is how I would describe Karen Deville. Several years ago, my father, who was post polio as a child, broke his afflicted leg. During his recovery, he was lucky enough to have Karen as his physical therapist. Karen was very dedicated to helping my father become mobile again. Post polio victims often have muscle degradation and weakness as they mature in life. This was no regular recovery… from a broken leg. She reassured my father when he doubted his abilities to recover. My father trusted her and felt he was in good hands. She worked with my father for many months. Karen followed up with my father on several occasions after the conclusion of therapy to make sure he was doing well. My brother and I are grateful that Karen was assigned to helping my father. My wife has been a patient of Karen DeVille since her last hip replacement surgery. She is under her care with recurrent back pain, headaches and joint pain. She received multiple hip replacements as well as traumatic compression fractures of the lumbar vertebrae, and, has experienced significant and prompt relief from Karen’s creative use of multiple modalities of therapy for a variety of rehabilitation needs. As such, I highly recommend her on her ongoing career… of excellence. Read more “”
When my body has been out of alignment, my joints have been inflamed or uncomfortable, I have had headaches, and/ or my physical and emotional energy has been out of whack, perpetuating discomfort in my body, mind, and/ or emotions. Karen’s skillful assessment, discernment in determining interventions, and holistic approach to physical therapy has restored my physical well-being and provided emotional relief, supporting my mental health and bodily wellness in a number of treatment episodes.… I recommend Karen DeVille to those seeking a holistic approach to physical healing and overall wellness. Karen is perceptive and intuitively effective. She is aware of her own mind-body connection and integrates physical, mental, and emotional information in her holistic manual therapy. Her unique way of working removes barriers to wellness and supports the body’s innate ability to heal. I would love to see more of her style of treatment available. I have referred friends and clients to Karen and have had the good fortune to collaborate with her to benefit our mutual patients. Read more “”
Karen was my therapist after a bad accident. My sessions were worthwhile and I credit her with getting back the range of motion that I have. Her experience and willingness to go beyond the “by the book” stretches and massage sets her above other therapists. I found her to be a caring and insightful practitioner and would highly recommend her.
